Self drive/Group tours/Guided private tours

11 days/ 10 nights/ 7 rounds of golf, from/to Geneva

Geneva- Chéserex- Crans-Montana- Zermatt- Ascona- Geneva

Day 1 – Geneva, individual arrival
After picking up your rental car, there is enough time to discover the international city, home to the UNO and the ICRC headquarters. Your first night will be spent in this metropolis on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Day 2 – Geneva/ Chéserex (30 km)
A fairly short journey through beautiful vineyards with an impressive view of the Savoy Alps and Mont-Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe (4,792 m), brings you to Cheserex. Enjoy a first round of golf on the beautiful ‘castle course’ of Bonmont (18 holes, par 71, length 6,080 m). You will spend the night in the charming village of Chéserex.

Day 3 – Chéserex
After a short drive you will play on the Domaine Impérial, situated directly on the shores of Lake Geneva. It is rated as one of the most prestigious courses in Switzerland. It offers class, tradition and wonderful views (18 hole, Par 72, length 6339 m). You drive past the villas of Michael Schumacher and Nigel Manson, then reach probably the best course in Switzerland. It takes good advantage of the last open undeveloped space close to the lake shore. Don’t let yourself be distracted by the anticipated joy of the famous wines which grow within eye sight, or by the marvellous views of the Jura and the French Alps. Because this playground with an extension of more than 1 square kilometer, styled in American design, plus its huge bunker areas and heaps of challenging surprises is very demanding. Even long time clubmembers dont’t regard this parcours designed by the star architect Pete Dye as a „home game“. Also the club house is awesome, originally built in 1860 by Prince Napoleon as the „Villa Prangis“

Day 4 – Chéserex/ Crans Montana (170 kilometers / 105 miles)
After a short drive on your way to the Wallis you are tempted by the golf course of Montreux in the area of Aigle. The second oldest parcours in Switzerland was founded back in 1900 and is especially impressive with its old trees and the wonderful views of Lake Geneva (18 hole, Par 72, length 6207 m). With lots of sensitivity and keeping the historical faith it was just recently awoken to new life. A euphoric feeling lies over the whole setting, but only really overflows at the last hole with its spectacular water obstacles. A fair terrain that despite its narrow passages through forest still allows for good hits to avoid problem zones. Enjoy also the many attractive glimpses of the vineyards of the Wallis, the medieval castles and the dominating peaks of the mountain Dents du Midi. Next your trip takes you further up through the Rhone Valley to the top destination of Crans Montana. In this very sunny village you spend two nights in a lovely hotel.

Day 5 – Crans Montana
At an altitude of 1,500 m, the golf balls will fly a little further! Every year, the golf course, founded in 1906, is host to the tournament with the highest prize money in Switzerland. The championship course was redesigned by Severiano Ballesteros and offers spectacular views and especially fast greens (18 holes, par 72, length 6,341 m). Right next to it, the varied 9-hole Jack Nicklaus course invites golfers to a supplementary round (par 35, length 2,779 m).

Day 6 – Crans Montana/ Zermatt (76 km)
The journey continues in the Valais. Driving down to the valley in the direction of Visp, you will pass through breathtaking ravines and typical Valais villages as you head towards the world-famous Matterhorn (4,478 m). Play a round of golf on the course of the same name, the Matterhorn Golf Club (9 holes, par 36, length 2,931 m). The course, although fairly new, provides a very pleasant round of golf. The rest of the day will be at your disposal. You will spend two nights in Zermatt, right at the foot of the Matterhorn. The village is carfree, but can easily be reached by train (car park in Täsch).

Day 7 – Zermatt
A golf-free day amidst 38 mountains over 4,000 m. Enjoy for instance a trip to the peak of the small Matterhorn (3,850 m) or the Gornergrat (3,089 m).

Day 8 – Zermatt/ Ascona (around 194 km)
From the Valais Alps to Ticino: a varied drive through the Rhône Valley and the region of Goms, passing across the Nufenen Pass to reach the sunny side of Switzerland. On the fairly new golf course of Gerre Losone numerous olive trees create a Mediterranean atmosphere and water hazards and natural stone obstacles make the course particularly interesting (18 holes, par 71, length 6,250 m). Your hotel for the following two nights is in nearby Ascona on the shores of Lago Maggiore.

Day 9 – Ascona
A beautiful, traditional flat parkland course close to the lake (18 holes, par 71, length 5,933 m) awaits you. After the game, you will have enough time to discover the picturesque lanes of Ascona. The town of Locarno or an excursion across the border to Italy are also worth visiting.

Day 10 – Ascona/ Geneva (310 km)
Leaving the beautiful South, a spectacular route passes through the Centovalli to Domodossola (Italy) and continues across the Simplon Pass to take you back to the Canton of Valais. Enjoy once again the Rhône Valley and the vineyards along Lake Geneva. You will spend the last night in Geneva again, rounding off your holiday in the city’s international flair.
